Music Timeline
Concert Band

- Forest Park Percussion Ensemble
- Forest Park Symphonic Band — Euphonium
- Forest Park Wind Ensemble — Concert Percussion
- Forest Park Wind Ensemble — Concert Percussion
From August 2015 to May 2022, I was part of the concert band! I got to play many instruments throughout middle and high school. I played concert percussion, percussion ensemble, and euphonium. At some concerts, I even performed in every ensemble on the program. I switched instruments, but I never left the stage! It was a fun experience that helped me grow as a musician.
Indoor Drumline
October 2019 – March 2020- Woodbridge Indoor Drumline — Bass 1
From October 2019 to March 2020, I was part of the Woodbridge Indoor Drumline, and it was very different from any other band I had been in. I was part of the first season where the group moved up from Scholastic A Class to Open Class, and we took first place at one of the few competitions we were able to attend. Although the season was cut short by COVID, it really deepened my love for the drums.
Jazz Band
August 2021 – May 2022- Forest Park Jazz Band — Auxiliary Percussion and Acoustic Guitar
From August 2021 to May 2022, I had the chance to be part of the jazz band, and it was such a fun way to explore different music genres! I got to play auxiliary percussion and acoustic guitar. One of the highlights was writing and playing a conga duet for one of our pieces. It was such a cool experience to see another side of music and play something I wrote.
Marching Band
May 2019 – December 2022- Forest Park High School Marching Bruin Band — Bass 3
- Forest Park High School Marching Bruin Band
- Forest Park High School Marching Bruin Band (COVID Season) — Snare
- Forest Park High School Marching Bruin Band — Quads
- Forest Park High School Marching Bruin Band — Drumline Captain, Snare
- James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes — Snare
From May 2019 to December 2022, I was part of the marching band. At the start of high school, I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to join, but my best friend convinced me to give it a try. The only problem was that drumline auditions were the very next day. We practiced nonstop for a whole day to prepare. The effort paid off, and we both made the drumline! Over the years, I had the chance to play every kind of drum in the drumline. It was also interesting to try and make music during COVID. I grew a lot as a drummer and leader, eventually becoming drumline captain. Marching band gave me not just skills, but unforgettable memories and friendships.
Pep Band
August 2024 – May 2026- James Madison University Pep Band — Alto Saxophone
In August 2024, I joined the pep band. I decided that I wanted to try a new instrument and taught myself the alto sax! Pep band is completely different from any other band I’ve been part of. One of my favorite moments was playing in the front row of the stands during a basketball game and getting to high-five one of the players.
